OUGD406 - Communication As A Virus

I am in a group of six with Sophie, Jane, James, Priyesh and Kirsty, and we have to 'produce a graphics response that engages with a specific audience' for a set task which is to 'drink tea'.

We brainstormed a lot and came up with a lot of initial ideas, and we are going to focus on creating a tea shop and create the branding for it. We are doing some initial research on tea, packaging and branding to discuss a more solid idea tomorrow.

PACKAGING

When we were thinking of ideas, we wanted to think of unconventional flavours for the tea, and this chocolate bar packaging has different ones like chili pepper and almond. The herbs are also sourced from students who grow them in a garden project.

I really like how the teabags have been shaped as a dove, to go with the brand name of 'Dovely', although we were thinking of creating loose tea this is still an interesting way of continuing a look and feel across a brand.

This company actually does what we were discussing of doing - a tea shop where you can pick and mix loose tea to create your own unique blend. We also discussed about packaging or using favourite blends that people have made, which is what this packaging is for here.

This concept uses colours to reflect the flavours i.e. red for strawberry and peach for white peach.

What I liked about this concept was the shape of the packaging, as it is unusual and this is something that could be considered if we create packaging for our loose tea.

The packaging is based on a tangram, a Chinese puzzle game. What I like about this is the packaging relates to the name of the brand, and where the tea is from.

BRANDING

Starbucks

Seasonal blends, which is something we discussed about having.

Having a rewards system is something we thought about, when someone tweets about their blend they can get a deal on the next tea that they buy.

Promo deal, we thought about having a magazine promotion so that we could put a free sachet of tea on it. I like how this is very simple with two colours, and gets the point across.

We wanted to serve food at the cafe too, and here are some examples of food that Starbucks sell.

Teapigs

Teapigs is a tea brand, and they sell loose tea, which is what we want to sell. This is the way that they package and present their loose tea.

Drink apps

We thought about creating an app for the brand, so that people could check out where the stores are, what blends are sold and the different combos that people have tried.
